I am Unique By Dean Borst (Age 10)

Hello! My name is Dean Borst and I am in 4th grade. I love playing sports and watching my favorite football player score a lot of touchdowns. I mostly enjoy playing with my friends because my friends are very important to me and they help me out when I’m sad. I also like Roblox and Minecraft because it’s always an adventure.

My difference is that I have Sever’s disease. You might have heard of this before but most people probably don’t know about it. Sever’s is something that happens when your growth plate gets in the lower back of the heel, causing it to hurt a lot when you run. This causes me to have issues with running. Sever’s is mostly for kids. Sometimes my friends tease me about Sever’s but some don’t. Truthfully, I like it and hate it. I don’t like it because it hurts when I run and we have to ice it every day. I really don’t like icing it it’s so cold! They basically take an ice pack from the freezer that’s been there for 24 hours and put it on my foot for 30 minutes. It is so cold! But I like it because I am unique because only 44 million people have Sever’s out of 7 billion. You have to multiply 177.272727273 to get to 7 billion. So I am unique.

Also, sometimes I like it as an excuse like for example when my mom wants me to do the dishes, I just say “My feet hurt” so it’s not that bad.

If you get Sever’s, you will be fine. My advice is if you get it, stretch a lot and don’t go in the house with only socks. If you do this you will be fine. That is my difference.
