My Unique Difference By Luke Ring (Age 9)
Hi! My name is Luke Ring and I live in Newport Beach, CA and I
am going to tell you about my differences. First, I am going to talk about me. I like me. There are many cool things about me. Every person is unique and different. I love that about planet earth. People have differences and that is what I am writing about today.
Now I am going to talk about how I am different. It is probably something you have never heard of. It is called a web toe. It’s medical name is Syndactyly. Most think that it is an inherited condition. It means that two of my toes on both feet have a web in between. To make it simple my two toes on each foot are stuck together. So if you think about it, I have four toes on each foot. I got this difference from my Aunt in Hawaii. She has the same thing as me but her web is bigger. When I show other people some think it is cool. Others think it is weird and scary. I don’t care if they think it is cool or weird. I think it is cool and unique. I think it is cool because my toe looks like a duck’s toe. They are stuck together like a duck. If you think about it ducks are fast swimmers and since my toe is like a duck’s toe so I am a fast swimmer. It helps me swim faster when I need it like for when I am swimming in the ocean for fun or if there is a big wave I can swim in.
I am going to talk about how my web toes affect me. When I have an itch I can’t scratch it. My webbed toes can also affect me in a good way too, because like I said since they are stuck together I am a faster swimmer. My toes are like a swimming fin. One in every 3,000 people have a webbed toe or finger and mostly boys have it.
This is my unique difference.
We love you Luke! Happy to be your webbed-toe Aunty!! ♀️ ♂️
